As part of our commitment to local communities and charities, we have decided to run an annual Christmas fundraiser for a chosen charity.
This year we fundraised for the Samaritans . The Samaritans are an excellent charity who run a helpline for those struggling to cope. They make sure people have somewhere to turn to and give them support when they need it most. They work with communities to let people know they have somewhere to turn and make suicide prevention a priority. Unfortunately almost everyone will have been touched by or know someone who has been affected by mental health issues, loneliness and suicide.
In order to support this cause, we took part in the Samaritans Light up for the Longest Night Campaign. So on the 21st December, we lit up our buildings bright green to act as a reminder that Samaritans are there to support everyone in their darkest hours.
As part of this commitment, we matched all donations made our employees. The money raised will help Samaritans to reach out to more people in emotional distress and ultimately see fewer people affected by suicide.
Other ways to support the Samaritans
Samaritans’ 116 123 helpline provides emotional support to whoever needs it, whenever they need it, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Each day, over 100 volunteers across Ireland will be on call to answer over 1,000 calls for help and lend a listening ear to those in need.
