Celebrating 25 Years with Hanley!

We’re delighted to celebrate a fantastic milestone with Eoin, one of our technicians, who recently marked 25 years with Hanley.

Over the past quarter of a century, Eoin has built a wealth of experience, developed his career, continued his education and played an important role in supporting our customers.

To mark the occasion, we sat down with Eoin to reflect on his journey with Hanley, from starting out as an apprentice to becoming an experienced technician working on-site with one of our customers.

A Welcoming Start

Looking back to when he first joined Hanley 25 years ago, Eoin remembers the warm welcome he received from the team.

“I remember how welcoming the Hanley team were when I started out on my journey. That support gave me a great foundation for my career, and it is something I still see today when I meet new people starting out with the company.”

Eoin began his career as a site-based apprentice before progressing to become a road technician. He developed his skills through FÁS training, alongside learning from the many qualified and experienced people within Hanley.

From Apprentice to Experienced Technician

One of the standout moments in Eoin’s career came in 2008, when he had the opportunity to commission machines on a new production line at Haleon in Dungarvan, which manufactured nicotine patches.

This project gave Eoin the opportunity to work closely with the onsite team, a relationship that has continued ever since.

“This gave me the opportunity to work closely with the onsite team, where I am still based today, 17 years later.”

Continuing to Learn and Develop

For Eoin, one of his proudest achievements has been something that took place alongside his full-time career: completing an Honours Degree in Process & Engineering Management.

It was a significant commitment, but one that was made possible with the support of Hanley.

“Hanley supported me throughout the whole process and helped me to continue my education while developing my career.”

His experience highlights the importance of continued learning and professional development, and the value of having an employer that supports its people as they progress.

The People That Make the Difference

When asked about the colleagues who have had the biggest impact on his career, Eoin found it difficult to name just a few.

“There have been too many people to name individually, but I can honestly say I have met some great people during my 25 years at Hanley.”

It’s clear that the people Eoin has worked alongside have been an important part of his journey. From those who helped him learn his trade at the beginning of his career to the colleagues and customers he continues to work with today.

So, what has kept Eoin at Hanley for a quarter of a century?

For him, it comes down to a combination of support, opportunity and the people he has worked with.

“I’d have to say that Hanley have been a very fair employer over the years and have supported me throughout my working life. That support, along with the people I’ve worked with and the opportunities I’ve had, has played a big part in keeping me here for the last 25 years.”

The Importance of Communication

After 25 years in the industry, Eoin has also learned the importance of building strong relationships with customers.

“Good communication with your customer is extremely important. Building a good relationship and understanding what the customer needs helps maintain Hanley’s reputation as a leading calibration service provider.”

It’s a lesson that reflects the importance Hanley places on customer relationships, technical expertise and delivering a high-quality service.
